This has been a quiet week, maybe it’s just the weather, but with a hilarious Harriet Harman performance in PMQs, a communities bill announcement, the G8 summit and (of course) the H&H by-election I expected more. Bad bloggers, must do better! As usual my extended round up will be up shortly on my blog.

The Register is an excellent IT/tech news source, what with CCTV, ID cards, the government’s war on photography etc., it’s always there with scathing and informed comment.
BoingBoing always keeps a good eye out for people taking liberties too.
Yeah I often use it to get good IT news, and the fact it takes comments from the public makes it pretty much a blog anyway

thelocal.se is also a good source for Swedish news in English, which should be of interest to everyone at the moment as the ‘Moderate’ (Conservative) government just adopted the most draconian surveillance laws in Europe - and they’ve got the tech know-how to make it work too. Nu Labor must be salivating with envy.
Mind you, once all the tech companies have left Sweden there won’t be much left worth spying on any more.
